2008 MMIS Conference Agenda

The agenda for the MMIS Conference is the responsibility of an Agenda Planning Committee comprised of members from the S-TAG (Systems Technical Advisory Group); CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services); PS-TG (Private Sector Technology Group); liaisons from the host State; and NESCSO. Planning begins immediately after the prior year's conference. The host state suggests the theme and keynote speakers. Breakout sessions are created from a call for papers targeted at topics suggested by the Committee.

The Committee has identified four tracks for this year's conference:

•  CMS/MITA

•  HIT/HIE/eHealth

•  New Technologies

•  Procurement and Operations

Additionally, specific topics within these tracks have been identified as areas of high interest: Managed Care, Collaboration or Joint Development Activities Among States, and ICD 10.

Please Note: Most MITA sessions will be managed by CMS.

Breakout sessions speakers are usually grouped on panels of three or more with the intention of having State and private sector perspectives on topics. Company representatives are asking to present “technology neutral” perspectives. Breakout session moderators will review presentations in advance to be sure that companies do not use this time for marketing their products or services.

The Agenda Planning Committee has reviewed all abstracts submitted and notified all individuals and companies as to their decision for inclusion in the MMIS Conference agenda.

The Agenda Planning Committee also reviews events to be included on the agenda including receptions and attendee activities. Additionally, a company may purchase a sponsorship for a “Vendor Track” which is a sixty or ninety minute breakout during which companies may present information of their choosing on their products and services.
